Alex Abella is an award-winning author, screenwriter and journalist. His previous novel was Mission Churchill, a thriller about the effort to avert Winston’s assassination. Alex’s first thriller, The Killing of the Saints, was a New York Times Notable Book. He also wrote The Great American, a novel based on the life of U.S. Marine veteran William Morgan, who became a leader of the Castro revolution.
Alex’s non-fiction book Soldiers of Reason: The Rand Corporation and the Rise of the American Empire, was long listed for a National Book Award. Alex has developed original TV series for Warner Bros. and the Disney Channel, and his play Camelia was staged at New York’s Actors Ensemble Theater. Alex has written for Time, the Los Angeles Times and others.
Born in Cuba, Alex and his family came to the United States when he was ten. He grew up in New York City, graduated from Columbia University, and won a TV news writing Emmy at KTVU in San Francisco. He has also been a foreign correspondent in Latin America. He and his wife live near Los Angeles.
